A Prayer for Small Mercies
Each week, after I write the main post, a few days later, I send an accompanying prayer related to the topic. I am doing in this in part for me: I always am on the hunt for more written prayers. I use written prayers often in my work to pray for larger groups, but I also love written prayers for my personal piety. Sometimes it is nice when I do not have the words to use someone else’s.
The below prayer is in response to my latest post on sometimes just needing froth.
Blessed One,
When the world seems heavy and hard, dark and cold,
You still provide the grace of small mercies:
I remembered my umbrella today and it’s raining.
That fight I thought I just picked with my spouse didn’t end up happening.
My dog greeted me at the door, same as always, and my worries melted away for a minute.
That thing I dreaded never materialized.
I went to bed, and when I woke up, life seemed manageable again.
A stranger made eye contact and smiled.
Someone found a wallet stuffed with cash and turned it in, still full.
