Each week, after I write the main post, a few days later, I send an accompanying prayer related to the topic. I am doing in this in part for me: I always am on the hunt for more written prayers. I use written prayers often in my work to pray for larger groups, but I also love written prayers for my personal piety. Sometimes it is nice when I do not have the words to use someone else’s.
The below prayer is in response to my latest post on 37 lessons from 37 years of life.
Creator God,
I made it another year, with all of its ups and downs, celebrations and trials, joys and stresses. Here I am: 365 days older, maybe a tiny bit wiser?
Some years feel really, really good: full of growth and hope and promise and possibility. Others years feel hard, sometimes nearly impossible to bear. What will this next year bring?
May I remember that it is a privilege to have made it another year. May I find and embrace ways to enjoy this wild and precious life, and may I weather the storms that will inevitabl…
